Warrants Division |
Myths:
A common misconception is that a warrant will not remain active (on a persons record) after a few years have passed. This is false.A warrant will remain active (on a persons record) until that person takes the appropriate actions to resolve the warrant. Another common misconception is that a wanted person either has to pay the complete warrant amount or go to jail. This is simply not the case. The Justice of the Peace Courts in Montgomery County work with a collections department and have numerous other options at their disposal which can keep an individual from having to step foot in jail. Facts:
The Warrant Division is dedicated to eliminating the backlog of 6,500 Justice of the Peace warrants that we currently house. Anyone may contact the Constable's Department to clear up an outstanding warrant without going to jail. |
