Environmental Health Services Mission Statement

Mission Statement -The mission of Montgomery County Environmental Health Services is to protect the health, safety, and welfare of all Montgomery County citizens. We serve as the local agent for the Texas Department of State Health Services or DSHS and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) and enforce the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) regulations through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

CONSUMER HEALTH

  • Enforces the State Statutes and Regulations as allowed by DSHS. This includes plan review, regular inspections, permitting of food establishments, mobile vendors and temporary events throughout Montgomery County. We investigate food borne illness complaints and offer Food Manager Certification and Food Handlers classes.

  • PLEASE NOTE:

We ask that you remember that counties in Texas, unlike incorporated cities, have VERY LIMITED powers and cannot exercise the same authority municipalities can through their ordinance making powers to force premises to be cleaned up to agreed upon community standards. We will, however, uses every tool we can to try to persuade offenders to remedy dangerous health conditions in our Community. To that end, we have established a COMPLAINT HOTLINE DEPARTMENT to take telephone complaints and assign inspectors (on a time available basis) to investigate. Just call our regular number and say you want to file a complaint.
