Replacement Texas Title

If the title is in your name, or you are the recorded lien holder for the vehicle, you can apply for a certified copy through the TxDMV.

Vehicle Transfer Notification

  • In order to help protect from liability and tickets, the seller of a vehicle can file a Vehicle Transfer Notification with TxDMV.
  • Sellers also have the option to take the license plates off the vehicle.
  • A Vehicle Transit Permit (5 day permit) can be printed from the TxDMV webpage. This will enable the vehicle to be driven home and allow time to transfer the title at the county tax office.
