B. D. Griffin was sworn in as the Montgomery County Attorney on March 19, 2019. He joined the County Attorney’s Office on January 1, 2013 as Chief of the Real Property Section and named First Assistant in 2015. B.D. is a lifelong resident of Montgomery County and was admitted to the Texas bar in 1984.  He is also admitted to practice before several United States District Courts in Texas and the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.


B.D. Griffin has been board certified in Commercial Real Estate Law and Residential Real Estate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization since 1997.  He is a member of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section, the Litigation Section and Government Law Section of the State Bar of Texas. He received his Juris Doctor degree from South Texas College of Law in 1983 (summa cum laude) and his undergraduate degree from Trinity University (1979, B.M. cum laude).  He served as President of the Montgomery County Bar Association in its 1994-95 term.

Mission 
The mission of the Montgomery County, Texas County Attorney’s Office is to provide the highest quality legal representation of Montgomery County in the most efficient and cost effective way, to be professional and responsive in all interactions with citizens and government officials, and to aid the County government in meeting the challenges of continued growth, public accountability and proper stewardship of taxes and other county resources.

We administer and implement County policies fairly and with the knowledge that the citizens of Montgomery County are the ultimate beneficiaries of our legal services.

We adhere to the highest standards of the legal profession and advise on best practices and not just bare legality so that County officials can make the best decisions relating to policies and actions for the benefit of the County and the Public.

We recognize that all County funds are public funds and strive to be good stewards of public money and resources.

Purpose
We are here to serve the people of Montgomery County by providing important legal services to County policymakers, to aggressively defend the County and its officials and employees against civil liability, and to represent the interests of the State of Texas in Juvenile Court and mental commitment proceedings, and to protect the safety and wellbeing of children in CPS and Family Violence Protective Order proceedings.

We provide legal advice and services to Commissioners Court, all elected officials, and all county departments. We are not allowed to provide legal advice to private citizens.
